This week, as part of the national Operation Sceptre knife crime week of action, we are highlighting the work we do year-round to tackle knife crime. Whilst we know it is the minority of people who think it is acceptable to carry a knife, it can have devastating consequences when they do. Held a Joint Street meet /knife amnesty bin with @SaferSouthDerbyshire Community safety officer on the Delph Swadlincote and one on High st Melbourne Completed patrols in known ASB hotspot areas Visited shops that sell knives giving them leaflets on Knife crime and the law to remind staff selling and customers buying. Visited Friday Night project Youth Club to engage with youths present giving advice and having some positive discussions around knife crime as part of the national Operation Sceptre week. Schools :- We’re keen to talk to young people about the impact that knife crime can have and ways to support our plea to #DropTheKnife, this week we’ve been at schools across South Derbyshire each day talking to children as part of Operation Sceptre. By talking to schools about the impact and answering their questions, we can educate people on the many ways #knivesshatterlives, and together we can keep knife crime out of the county. Thank you to the children and teachers for their engagement this week we had some very good discussions and questions!
